Trial and Error

It has been trial and error since we have gotten home. Trial and error for finding what works with the baby, what works for us and how our lives function best in our "new normal". This past week was a huge wake up call for me. I had to hit rock bottom before I "woke up" but I did "wake up". I think I had my mind made up early on that I was going to keep myself as busy as possible so I didn't have to think about losing Beaux. I threw myself back into work, socializing with friends, going to meetings and other obligations. I found out the hard way that was probably not the healthiest approach. I wore myself down and when the bottom fell out, it fell out bad. I took a whole day to just rest, relax and spend time with Charlotte and a not so welcomed guest, my sadness. I didn't answer phone calls, emails, texts - just concentrated on what Charlotte and I needed. I have figured out the key is to find the delicate balance between getting back to my life and doing things that I enjoy but to also make time to grieve, rest and rejuvenate.

Trial and error has been the name of the game with the little one too. We have found her top 3 "favorite things"...believe me stumbling upon these things took A LOT of trial and error!

In no particular order....

#1 - "Tummy Time" - she love being on her stomach
#2 - The vibrating lamb chair - this was discovered after spending hours simulating the vibrations with my legs. Great leg workout, but really time consuming!
#3 - Katy Perry - she likes to dance to most Katy Perry songs, but is partial to "Firework" and "Teenage Dream". It puts her to sleep immediately, have to see to believe. I am going to try to get some video of this....it is sooo strange! Girl likes to party, what can I say?

Oh Erin, you are not alone! Trial and Error is definitely the name of the game for all new time parents! Just go with the craziness and make sure to cut yourself a TON of slack. One day too soon, you will pause and the first year will have gone by. Charolotte will be terrorizing your dogs, destroying your house, making you laugh a million times a day, and your sadness will be fond memories of your brief time with beautiful baby Beaux.
We have been following your blog and thinking of you often. In our thoughts and prayers!
